Bangladeshi cricketers are top stars on social media as well just like they are on field. Unlike Facebook, Twitter is not a much popular social platform in Bangladesh. However, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) official page is the most followed page on Twitter from Bangladesh. The page has more than two million followers. And, after the BCB page, top Bangladeshi cricketers are followed most in Twitter. In terms of ‘followers’ four among top ten Twitter pages are of Bangladeshi cricketers’. Shakib Al Hasan is followed by more than 1.3 twitterites. Mushfiqur Rahim has more than one million followers, while Tamim Iqbal has o.75 million and Mustafizur Rahman has more than 0.6 million followers on Twitter. According to Socialbakers, a global social media analytics company, among non-cricketers, only one Bangladeshi has made it into the list of top-ten most followed (Bangladeshi) Twitter page — Dr. Imran H Sarker, an online activist. He has about 0.3 million followers on Twitter, reported BBC Bangla. However, on Facebook the numbers of followers of top Bangladeshi cricketers are manifold higher than Twitter. Shakib’s followers on Facebook have crossed the 10 million mark for quite some time now. Mushfiqur Rahim has about 10 million followers on Facebook. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has about 8.5 million followers on Facebook. Media are the other most followed pages on Twitter by Bangladeshis.
