7 kg gold seized at Dhaka airport

A customs preventive team seized 60 gold bars, weighing around 6.900 kg, from a passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Wednesday.

The team of Dhaka Customs House strengthened its surveillance at the airport on a tip-off that a consignment of gold would come from Dubai.

Its members challenged a passenger coming from Dubai on EK-582 flight that landed at the airport at 8:20am.

After frisking him, 60 gold bars were recovered from him.

The market price of the seized gold is around Tk 5.18 crore, said sources at the Dhaka Customs House.
