Abdul Hamid re-elected president for 2nd term

Abdul Hamid has been elected the country’s president for second term. At a news briefing at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital, chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda announced that Abdul Hamid was elected president uncontested. Abdul Hamid is supposed to take oath on 23rd April, the CEC said. Abdul Hamid, who is also the ruling Awami League nominated candidate for presidential polls, is 21st president without any contest as no other candidates have submitted nomination paper this year. Earlier on Monday, a team led by Al general secretary Obaidul Quader submitted the nomination for presidential candidate to CEC KM Nurul Huda. On February 24, 2013, Abdul Hamid, former speaker of the house and ruling Awami League leader, took over as the country’s 20th president after he was elected uncontested.
