BSMMU bins claim that its vice-chancellor tests coronavirus positive

The authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) have trashed reports that its Vice-Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua has tested positive for COVID-19. BSMMU spokesman Proshanto Mazumder said: "Prof Barua is not suffering from the coronavirus disease. Even his sample hasn’t been tested." Referring to a report that claimed that prof Barua and his family members tested coronavirus positive, he further said: "That report published by the online version of a leading national daily created confusion." The newspaper retracted the report later and apologised to Prof Barua, he added.
