BSMMU bins claim that its vice-chancellor tests coronavirus positive
The authorities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) have trashed reports that its Vice-Chancellor Prof Kanak Kanti Barua has tested positive for COVID-19.
BSMMU spokesman Proshanto Mazumder said: "Prof Barua is not suffering from the coronavirus disease. Even his sample hasn’t been tested."
Referring to a report that claimed that prof Barua and his family members tested coronavirus positive, he further said: "That report published by the online version of a leading national daily created confusion."
The newspaper retracted the report later and apologised to Prof Barua, he added.
