Former Vice-chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Prof Emajuddin Ahmed passed away early Friday. He was 86. He was taken to Laidaid Hospital in the early hours after he suffered a stroke where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit around 6am. Born on December 15, 1933, Prof Emajuddin served as the 21st VC of Dhaka University from 1992 to 1996. He was awarded prestigious Ekushey Padak in 1992. Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the eminent educationist.
