A court in Chattogram on Wednesday sentenced BNP leader Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury, the younger brother of executed war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, to three years imprisonment for threatening to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Chattogram senior trial court magistrate ASM Shahidullah Kaysar delivered the verdict. According to the case statement, on May 29, the BNP leader threatened to kill the Prime Minister at a discussion held in the upazila. Fatikchhari upazila unit Awami league general secretary Nazim Uddin Muhuri filed the case on May 30 against Giasuddin, who is now absconding. The second arrest warrant was issued against the BNP leader as he did not appear in court after getting bail on the first warrant.
