Italy sends back 167 Bangladeshis from airport

Italy on Wednesday sent back 167 Bangladeshis who went there on two flights. It was known that treatment was arranged for a female Bangladesh expatriate there while nationals of other countries were sent on quarantine, said first secretary (Labour) at the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome M Arfanul Haque. A flight landed at local Fiumicino Airport around 1pm local time on Wednesday. Earlier, another flight went there on Monday when some Bangladeshis were detected with coronavirus. Later, Italy suspended flight operation with Bangladesh for a week. As the flight operation remains on with Qatar, Bangladeshis who went to Italy on a Qatar Airways flight on Wednesday were supposed to be allowed to enter the country. However, Italy did not allow them to enter the country and instead sent them back. Meanwhile, those were detected with coronavirus from Monday flight were sent on isolation or hospitals while the rest have been kept on home quarantine at Hilton Hotel in Rome.
