Mominul hits second century of the Test

Mominul Haque completed his second century of the Test as Bangladesh moved closer to safety in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Chittagong on Sunday. Mominul hit pushed Lakshan Sandakan towards mid-on for a single to become the first Bangladeshi to achieve the feat. He shared 157-run in an unbroken fourth wicket stand with Liton Das as Bangladesh wiped out Sri Lanka’s 200-run first innings lead, reaching 238-3 in 70 overs an hour into lunch break on the fifth day Liton Das gave him a perfect company to score his third Test fifty with 68 not out after Bangladesh resumed from a potentially dangerous 81-3. Mominul, 18 not out overnight, batted confidence hitting a six straight over the head of left-arm spinner Herath in the fifth over and did not look back. Lahiru Kuamara struck him on the helmet with a short ball, but Mominul stood back to score a single in the next ball, becoming the highest single run-getting for Bangladesh in a Test match. Mominul, who reached 56 with that single, overtook Tamim Iqbal’s 231 runs against Pakistan at Khulna in 2015.
