PM joins dinner of Canada Governor General for G7 guests
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who arrived here this afternoon on a four-day visit to attend the Outreach Meeting of the G7 Summit, joined a dinner hosted by Governor General of
Canada for G7 guests this evening.
Governor General Julie Payette hosted the dinner in honour of the head of
governments and international organizations participating in the Outreach
Session of the G7 Summit at La Citadelle Quebec.
PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the prime minister exchanged
pleasantries with President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, Prime Minister
of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of Haiti and chair of the Caribbean
Community Jovenel Moise and other dignitaries attending the dinner.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali accompanied Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in
the programme.
The prime minister arrived in Canada to attend the Outreach Session of the
G7 Summit at the invitation of her Canadian counterpart Justine Trudeau, who
also invited other 15 world potential leaders beyond G7 to the meeting of the
group.
The G7 is a platform of the world’s seven largest advanced economies
consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and
the United States.
Earlier, a flight of Canada Air carrying the premier and members of her
entourage landed at Jean Lesage International Airport here at 1.40 am.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Canada Mizanur Rahman and Director of
International Relations and Deputy Chief of Protocol of Ontario Province
received the prime minister at the airport.
Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for Canada on Thursday evening to join G7 Outreach
Meeting.
She will join G7 Outreach Leaders Programme at Le Manoir Richelieu Hotel on
Saturday.
The prime minister will hold a meeting with Justine Trudeau on Sunday
morning at her place of residence at Hotel Chateau Frontenac in Quebec.
