Put special attention on pvt medical colleges’ standard: PM


Prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday asked the authorities concerned to give special attention on the private medical colleges to make it sure that they are following the standard of the medical education properly.

‘Private sector is coming forward, they are establishing medical colleges, but I will ask the authorities concern to pay more attention to this sector to make confirm that they are maintaining standard of the education,’ she said.

She said this while inaugurating two-day Criticon Bangladesh 2018, 3rd International Conference on Critical Care Medicine and 1st National Conference on Critical Care Nursing at Krishibid Institution in Dhaka.

Bangladesh Society of Critical Care Medicine and Critical Care Nursing Society jointly organised the programme.

The prime minister said that the government had given utmost importance on the development of the healthcare facilities of the countrymen and would do everything whatever needed in this purpose.

‘We want to make the healthcare facilities available at the door step of the people, even in the rural areas,’ she said.

In this connection she mentioned that the government in its previous 1996-2001 tenure introduced the community clinic system aiming to provide medicare services to the door step of the people of rural areas.

‘But BNP-Jamaat government shut down those just on the basis of political vendatta, after coming to the power in 2009. However, we have resumed that system and it is giving good results in our medicare services,’ she said.

Health and family welfare minister Mohammad Nasim, state minister Zahid Maleque, Health Services Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare secretary Md Serajul Huq Khan, Bangladesh Medical Association president Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, BSCCM president Professor UH Shahera Khatun, general secretary Professor ASM Areef Ahsan and vice president Mirza Nazimuddin also spoke on the occasion.
