We want peace, not war: PM

Mentioning that Bangladesh believes in peace, not war, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday said the capability of every force is being enhanced to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty.

She also asked the members of all forces to work upholding the spirit of the Liberation War.

The prime minister was addressing the President Parade of Chattogram Naval Academy virtually from her official residence Ganobhaban in the morning.

She said the government has already inducted 27 warships into the fleet of Bangladesh Navy. “We added two state-of-the-art submarines in 2017. As a result, we’ve been able to turn Bangladesh Navy into a three-dimensional force.”

Sheikh Hasina further said, “We want peace, not war. But for protecting our country’s independence and sovereignty, we have to take measures and training, we’re building our every force that way.”

She said their aim is to produce warships at their own yards. “We’ve started some of our activities for that.”
