No annual exam at secondary level this year

No annual examination will be held at the secondary level this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, says the government. Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni revealed the government’s decision at a virtual press conference on Tuesday noon. She said the National Curriculum and Textbook Board has prepared short syllabuses for students from Class-VI to X. “Students will be given assignments based on these syllabuses. They’ll be promoted to next classes through evaluating them based on the assignments,” she said. The minister said four assignments will have to be completed in a month. She said the syllabuses will be sent to all the educational institutions across the country and teachers will reach those to students. “Students can submit their assignments online or written.” On March 16 last, the government closed all the educational institutions to contain the virus. Later, the closure was extended in several phases and as per the latest announcement, schools, colleges and universities will remain closed until October 31. Meanwhile, the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations, Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC), Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee examinations will not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
